Opscan and ReggieNet
Opscan can provide a special "Scores for ReggieNet" Excel file that makes it possible for you to upload your grades into ReggieNet. ReggieNet identifies students using their University Login ID (ULID). In order for us to include ULIDs in the report we generate for you, students must use their numerical University ID (UID) on the Opscan sheet in the field that says "University ID". Social Security Numbers or specially-generated classroom identification numbers will not work.
When you submit the job to Opscan, make sure to indicate you want the “Scores for ReggieNet” report on the job request form along with any other reports you want. (If you want us to email the file, then you must set up a password with us to encrypt the Excel file and thus protect students’ UIDs and scores.) In an email message, you will receive an Excel file that lists the students’ names, UIDs, ULIDs, and scores. The column of ULIDs is titled “Student ID” because ReggieNet uses that term. A sample of such a file is shown here. If our scanner was unable to read a UID or unable to match it to a student, then no ULID is inserted.
Make some necessary changes to the "Scores for ReggieNet file and save it in the CSV format:
- Open the Scores for ReggieNet file in Excel.
- If there are any ULIDs missing in the Opscan file, make sure to enter those in Column C (labeled Student ID), verifying that the right ULID is put in the correct row. Only lowercase letters should be used when entering the ULID.
- Delete columns A (Scanned Name) and B (University ID). Keep the remaining columns.
- Change the word "Test" to your preferred test name. Note that in the test name, you cannot use the following characters:
[ ] # * $ \
- Change the word "Points" in brackets to the actual point value for the test. Keep the square brackets in place, with one space between the test name and the open bracket. (You can enter points as a decimal value, like 50.50.) In the end, the heading for column E would be something like:
Test 1 [50]
- Save the file using File > Save As and save the file in CSV format. When you do, the set of instructions in the Excel file will disappear.
- Upload the CSV file into ReggieNet.
Import the file into ReggieNet:
If you run into any errors while importing the CSV file into ReggieNet, please refer to our Troubleshooting page.
- Return to ReggieNet; click Gradebook in the left-hand navigation if you aren't already in Gradebook.
- Click the Import/Export tab.
- Under the Import section, click the button labeled Browse or Choose file. Navigate to and select the revised CSV file. Click Continue.
- On the Gradebook Item Import Selection page, scroll down and find the item for which you are importing scores. To the right, it should say "New" if the item is not in the Gradebook, or "Update" if this item already exists. Check the box next to the item's title.
- Click Next.
- If this is a new item, you will be prompted to create the new item. The test name and point value will already be present in the proper fields, but you may change them at this point. Click Next.
- Verify the test name on the Confirmation page, and click Finish.
