Graduate Assistant
Center for Integrated Professional Development
Nichol is a Ph.D. student in the English department with a specialization in Children’s Literature. Although originally from Pennsylvania, she hopped across the country to attend Arizona State University, where she received her BA in 2018 and her MA in 2019, both in English literature. After wrapping up at ASU, Nichol moved to Germany to teach English at a high school for a year. Nichol currently teaches introductory children’s literature courses at ISU while also serving as the New Instructor Mentor for the Writing Program Leadership Team in the English department. Nichol’s research primarily involves posthumanist and feminist critiques of young adult literature, with a particular focus on fairy tale retellings and speculative fiction.
Outside of her work at the Center and in the English department, Nichol loves crocheting/knitting, baking, going to the movies, and attending trivia with her friends.
At the Center for Integrated Professional Development, Nichol is one of the graduate students who help support instructors’ use of technology in their teaching.
