Alyssa is a Ph.D. student in the English department with a specialization in Technical Writing & Rhetorics. She received her BA in English Literature & Linguistics from UW-Oshkosh in 2018, and received her MA in Technical Writing & Rhetorics from ISU in 2020. Alyssa’s current research is focused on equitable and accessible approaches to online course design and successful collaboration between instructional designers and subject matter experts.
From 2018-2023, Alyssa worked for the English department in multiple roles: teaching introductory composition and technical communication courses, mentoring new Ph.D. students on the Writing Program Leadership Team, and assistant editing for Rhetoric Review.
Alyssa worked for the Center for Integrated Professional Development as a graduate assistant from 2022-2023, supporting faculty in the transition from ReggieNet to Canvas, facilitating training workshops, and creating technical instructions and job aids.
In her new role as Instructional Design Associate, Alyssa works with instructional designers and subject matter experts across the university to design courses for fully online programs. Alyssa also works to support instructors through training workshops and individual consultations.
