Mayuko joined the Center for Integrated Professional Development as a coordinator in the fall of 2006. She earned her Master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University, and earned her second Master’s in developmental psychology from ISU. She has taught education and psychology classes and honors seminars and has researched intercultural competence, diversity, inclusion, and equity-related topics. Mayuko has a wide range of professional interests including critical pedagogy, equity pedagogy, intercultural learning, and cognitive and developmental psychology.
Mayuko has three primary areas of focus at the Center: Diversity, equity, and Inclusion, Student Success, and Global Learning. For each of her focus areas, she offers workshops, consultation, and teaching-learning communities and actively participates in the campus and community initiatives related to these focus areas. She also works on the retention and recruitment efforts of faculty of color.
