Teaching philosophy
Communication serves as the cornerstone between teachers and students, and, as teachers, we enact that through our clarity, competency, and immediacy.
The three most valuable or important things that I bring to my teaching practice
- Flexibility
- Positivity
- Bring out value in the material
Best compliment from a student
“I am sure no other teacher even knows who I am. I bet they don’t know my name. But you know a lot more than my name, you know what I’m interested in and what I care about.”
Best moment in my teaching career
It’s wonderful to be recognized by my peers and mentors for accomplishments, but it’s especially exciting to hear directly from students that your teaching mattered to them.
Most embarrassing moment in my teaching career and from it I learned
A student refused to participate in a group discussion because he was “smarter than me.” I was really taken aback and surprised by his comment. I learned that as a teacher, it’s my job to set the course climate.
