Teaching Philosophy
I aspire to teach in a way that promotes students' meaningful, self-directed learning.
My motivation to become a college professor
I value being philosophical, curious, and caring. It seemed like being a college professor would be a place where I could live out those values.
The three most valuable methods that I bring to my teaching practices are
- Encouraging students' intrinsic motivation
- Facilitating students' self-reflection
- Broadening students' perspective
I want to continue to improve my teaching in the following ways
First, I would like to find outlets to get more involved in teaching at ISU and in the wider community. Second, I would like to learn how to incorporate technology into my teaching. Third, it is important for me to develop my skills as a scholar of teaching and learning. Finally, I would also like to grow in the area of social justice and multicultural competency and learn how to apply these aspects to my teaching more effectively.
