Dr. Evan Brown has held a variety of teaching and leadership roles in higher education and has a broad research and publication record. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a Master of Science in Sociology from Illinois State University. He also earned a Doctorate in Education in Interdisciplinary Leadership from Governors State University. In addition to being a faculty member for many years, he has found success as a Department Chair, Instructional Designer, Director of Global Studies, Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences, Faculty Development Facilitator, Faculty Manager, and Learning Design Coach. Evan also has a diverse research portfolio with publications in leadership, education, natural sciences, entrepreneurship, and social sciences. He has received numerous accolades for innovation and quality in online learning and has acquired grants for multicultural curriculum development.
He is passionate about fostering meaningful learning experiences, designing engaging and high-quality courses, and leveraging adult learning principles to create optimal online learning environments. Outside of academia, Evan spends his free time gardening, hiking, woodworking, and traveling with his family.
As a Senior Instructional Designer for the Online Extended Learning team in the Center for Integrated Professional Development, Evan collaborates with subject matter experts to craft high-quality, accessible online educational courses while ensuring compliance with university standards and quality assurance measures. Evan also provides consultation and training to academic departments on online program development and educational technologies, as well as contributes to research and policy formulation to maintain accreditation standards.
