About Allison

Biography

Allison has a doctorate in English with a specialization in Linguistics from Illinois State University. She received her bachelors in English from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles in 2015 and graduated with a masters in English in 2017 from the University of Rochester. She has been at Illinois State University since 2018, where she has taught introductory linguistics and grammar courses, worked on the Writing Program Leadership Team, and supported faculty and students through various other roles. Allison’s research is focused on the intersection of identity, gender, feminist movements, and language. 

Outside of work, Allison loves to watch TV, sew, read books on her Kindle, spend time with friends and family, and hang out with her dog Nelly, and her two cats, Poppy and Rummy.

Function at the Center

As the Learning Systems Coordinator, Allison provides guidance and expertise in the operations, configurations, and support of the institution’s learning management system (LMS) from an academic-based perspective. She collaborates with leadership in the Online Education team and the Scholarly Teaching team to support faculty professional development related to online learning and teaching with the LMS.
