Linda Summers grew up in the floodplain of Tulsa, Oklahoma, where her passion was climbing to the tops of trees, exploring the continuous reconfiguration of Mingo creek and reading teetering stacks of library books.
Linda came to Illinois State in 2013 from Northeastern State University and has been involved in the design and delivery of online professional development and distance education for nearly two decades. She has experience teaching web-enhanced, blended/hybrid, and fully online courses to a diverse demographic of students across six learning management systems. Linda serves as an international consultant specializing in online quality standards and continuous improvement efforts at the course, program, and institution levels. Linda holds a Bachelor of English from Northeastern State University, a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Oklahoma and is currently working on a Doctorate in Education in Teaching and Learning at Illinois State University. Her research focuses on user information behavior and online professional development of postsecondary educators.
In her role as Assistant Director, Linda provides leadership for the Online Education Team, including monitoring of projects and timelines and participating in design, development, and consulting activities. She also partners with the Director of Online Education in managing and supporting applications and technology used within the team.
