Steve Travers joined the Center for Integrated Professional Development as a graduate assistant in July 2013. In 2017, he earned his Doctorate in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) at Illinois State University. He is currently the Assisted Director for Online Student Success.
Steve has more than fifteen years of teaching experience at Heartland Community College in the Earth Science and Technology departments. Prior to beginning his teaching career, he worked in the engineering and environmental industry, completing environmental field investigations, environmental cleanups, risk assessments, and risk management plans.
Steve’s primary responsibilities at the Center are design and implementation of professional development for faculty, teaching staff, and teaching assistants in the areas of student success, student retention, and STEM pedagogies in online, blended, and face-to-face contexts. He also designs, develops, and delivers workshops and instructional materials on online learning tools, techniques, and quality standards for faculty, teaching staff, and teaching assistants.
