This workshop series is based on those for tenure-, non-tenure-track, and instructional staff. However, it is designed for graduate students who teach or aspire to teach.
Through a mix of interactive discussions, case studies, and guided work sessions, participants will explore key SoTL concepts, including research design, ethical considerations, and methods for gathering and analyzing data on student learning.
Faculty and course instructors are invited to join a Summer 2025 course design cohort to enhance their understanding of intellectual property (IP) and integrate it into their teaching. Participants will learn about the key pillars of IP, develop relevant assignments and assessments, and explore campus resources to support student learning. The program runs from May 2025 through spring 2026, culminating in a presentation of their work.
In recent decades, neuroscience and the science of learning have provided substantial evidence on how people learn, which Jo Boaler highlights with six keys in her book Limitless Minds: Learn, Lead, and Live without Barriers. This workshop will explore evidence-based teaching strategies aligned with these keys to enhance student success in STEM courses. Participants will develop ready-to-implement activities and supports for their courses.
